The Dobwall Dingos took on the mighty Truro Tigers last night in an entertaining friendly fixture under the new floodlights at Lantoom Park.
Truro’s quality in the final third was not in doubt and with the lively Neal taking early advantage for Truro on 8 minutes with a strong driving shot that escaped the young custodian Jim Weeks.
Dobwalls were limited with attacking options in the early stages with Fyneboy finding defensive numbers smothering his in roads.
With Dobwalls struggling with the pace of the game in the early stages and with high pressing of Truro it was no surprise when Neal struck again with a close range header going undetected in a busy eighteen yard box.
Dobwalls continued to work through the barrage of Truro attacks and had Thackeray and McCarthy bravely leading defensive duties.
Dobwalls gained some confidence despite the early set back with Jasper hitting the side netting after link up with Fyneboy. Dobwalls were also harshly denied a penalty when Fyneboy was pushed to the ground unceremoniously despite the obvious contact.
Truro had Swan to thank for their third when clinically finishing from a Neal cross and another was converted quickly from this well taken goal with a fourth by Harvey.
Bryant for Dobwalls showed great turn of pace from Inwoods pass and made a pin point cross for Jasper who deftly finished into the corner making the scores 4 : 1 and restoring some pride to the Dingos.
Neal converted his hatrick just before half time from a protested off side but slipped the ball under the on rushing Weeks.
Dobwalls heads did not drop and they showed great character despite Yetton rounding weeks in the early stages of the second period making it 6 : 1
Dobwalls continued to press with Lang and Hill pivotal from midfield and rightly deserved some good fortune when Hills pressing resulted in an own goal when Garside over hit his back pass to the keeper and raising some applause from the Dingos contingent.
Innis had a positive impact with good link up between Jasper and Fyneboy. It was no surprise to see Innis convert Dobwalls third driving ferociously from Fyneboys through ball.
The final score 6 : 3 with Truro deserved winners. Credit to the Tigers and Paul Wotton / Stuart Yetton for taking this fixture and huge thanks for the support and positive comments.
Well done to Dobwalls who showed great character and true Dingo spirit despite early setbacks. And it was also a great opportunity to gain some very much needed match experiences against a well organised team 3 tiers higher.
