Dobwalls Vs Truro City: The turning on of the Floodlights.

We would like to offer a warm welcome to everyone here at Lantoom Park this evening for tonight’s friendly clash between Dobwalls and Truro City.

We would like to thank tonight’s sponsors Howdens of Liskeard, especially for their generosity in helping build the new Diner Here at Lantoom Park. Plus the other businesses that helped construct the diner, including Bradfords Builders Merchants, Entry Group, Carpenter, ADS Windows, Callum Hill, plumber Wayne Barlow, and of course the management team for helping drive the project forward

This coming season is an exciting one for Dobwalls, not only is it our 100th birthday and despite the pandemic, we as a club have pushed forward into developing Lantoom park to compete at level 6.

Things still need finishing off and tidying up, but we anticipate that we should be ready to compete in the South West Peninsula league as well as the FA Vase for the first time in the clubs history.

Tonight marks the first official time we will turn on our newly installed floodlights. We hope you all agree that this is without doubt one of the greatest leap forwards any club can make, especially on for the size of Dobwalls Football Club. We hope this is the start of many great things for this great club.

From the Manager: Simon ‘Wes’ Westlake

We are delighted to welcome Truro along in this pre season friendly. It gives us the opportunity to play against arguably one of the best teams in the region who are placed 3 tiers above us.

A big thanks goes to Paul Wotton and Stuart Yetton for agreeing to this game and our biggest fixture at Lantoom Park and certainly something we would like to repeat next season.

We really do have our work cut out as expected but we have our own specific targets for the game and that is perfect preparation for pre season.

We have included a number of new additions this year, so a test like this will be great experience for the lads and allow us to see how we cope against this type of quality.

Despite this obvious test, we do intend to show we can cause some problems to any level of opposition. We have a group of lads at Dobwalls who show strong qualities and ability on a regular basis and hopefully we will surprise a few people this evening.

Hopefully off the pitch we have a good attendance. The fixture has been brought a day earlier so we can all watch the England Euro Semi Final on Wednesday. We wish the England boys luck as well as Truro for this evenings game.

Here’s to two enjoyable evenings

Enjoy the football

Wes
